Instructors and Staff

At Ballet Arts NW, strong technical foundations are laid in ballet class and we are proud to offer Royal Academy of Dance ballet training and open classes that provide students with an extensive ballet experience.  The school offers ballet classes that deliver cognitively and physically appropriate training at every level.

The teachers at Ballet Arts NW are dedicated and professional. They are motivated to share their love of dance with all students who come through the doors. A positive and caring environment allows everyone a chance to excel!

The range of classes provides a technical and artistic foundation for lifelong love of the arts. Extending the dance experience we also offer jazz, hip hop and tap.

Pre-school classes follow the RAD curriculum, Dance To Your Own Tune.  They are fun, enriching and build confidence and motor skills while learning to dance!

Kelli Pinkerton RAD RTS

Director/Instructor

Kelli Pinkerton began her own dance education as a very young child in Arkansas with the Broadway star, Sally Riggs, where she studied ballet, tap and jazz. Upon moving to Oregon, her passion for ballet took over when she earned a role in Eugene Ballet Company’s, “The Nutcracker”. She danced as a student for the production for 5 more years and became the first local Salem student to be chosen to dance the role of Clara. After her time as a student, she was chosen to dance at Eugene Ballet Company’s professional level.

As a student, Kelli studied the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus with Marjorie Soriano and Elfie Stevenin and passed all examinations with high marks. Kelli has been accepted into nationally acclaimed programs with Boston Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Joffery Ballet and  Houston Ballet. Kelli also studied dance at Cornish College of the Arts where she danced with their company in original works by Pat Hon and Magali Messac.

Ms. Kelli started her teaching career by being an assistant at the ripe old age of 10! She has taught in many local schools over the years and has students currently in dance programs at college levels as well as dancing with professional companies. Ms. Kelli has choreographed original works for competitions that have received high marks and created her very own rendition of “The Nutcracker” with a cast of over 50 students.  As an academic student at McKay High school, she frequently filled in as assistant dance teacher and choreographer assistant.  She performed in Brigadoon, Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls and Fame on the McKay stage under the direction of Kristin Andersen and Dee Montgomery-Smith.  Teaching her peers became a pivotal moment in learning how to teach.  Seeing that not everyone learned in the way she did, really opened her eyes and fueled her passion to teach.

Ms. Kelli is a Registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance.

Aside from the dance world, Kelli is married with three children. She home schools her children and is also active in her church. She has also been a certified CPR/First Aid instructor for 10 years.
